Chronic Tension Headaches

Understanding the difference between a plain old tension headache, a migraine and a chronic tension headache is sometimes tricky. Hopefully if you are ever stuck by a headache it’s the tension type, the kind that will go away just as quickly as it came. The source of tension is usually stress and will subside if you relax or take a breather from what you have been doing. Migraine sufferers faced with relatively infrequent headache events can be treated with over the counter pain medication or anti-inflammatory prescriptions. However, the patients that need to be kept under close watch are the patients with chronic tension that seem to occur with relentless frequency, never really going away.

What a Chronic Headache Means

Chronic tension are difficult to read. They can simply be the result of current stress to a patient but they can also be symptomatic of something as serious as a brain tumor. The affect of chronic tension on a patient’s personal life is extraordinary and a source of stress itself, but the impact on the lives of others such as family, friends and co-workers is a concern as well. Chronic tension can interrupt the lives of many as their intensity and frequency become more difficult to manage.

The Cause of Tension Headaches

Tension are usually directly driven by stress making it unusual for a normal tension headache to develop into chronic tension headaches. Consuming excessive amounts of sugar could be a simple reason for the onset of sudden that seem chronic. Reacting with a headache is your body’s way of letting you know something is wrong and needs to be corrected. Talking with your doctor is one of the best options for discovering the reason why continue to re-occur that feel like they may be tension headaches. Excessive amounts of stress in your life can lead to chronic tension and other physical problems that should be discussed with your doctor.

Then There Is The Ones You Expect To Be Chronic

The origin of is not scientifically clear, but enough research has been conducted to show the difference between typical tension headaches, chronic tension and migraines. There are generally two types of migraines. One type of migraine can get treated whenever it occurs and is generally not the recurring type. There are also the migraine that can be considered chronic and are typically under a doctor’s care. Chronic migraine sufferers are often treated with prescribed medication from their doctor. Severe migraines are often treated with multiple medications until the right combination successfully minimizes side effects and reduces or eliminates the headaches.

Despite the common nature of headaches, they are still not completely understood by doctors. Tension brought on by stress are some of the easiest to resolve. But chronic tension and migraines are more difficult to treat and finding their sources and how to manage treatment is a medical area still requiring more research.
