Ocular Migraines Symptoms

 
 

Visual, or ocular, migraines are that cause a temporary disturbance in the vision. They are often caused by vascular spasms in the brain, although without the headache. Another of the ocular migraines symptoms is that the vascular spasm will cause a decrease in blood flow to the occipital cortex. The occipital cortex is the part of the brain that is most closely associated with your vision. While visual migraines vary vastly from traditional migraines, they can still be a stressful and frustrating experience. Vision and reality become distorted in a way that is problematic for the sufferer.

Ocular Migraines Symptoms: Shimmering Light

One of the most easily recognizable of the ocular migraines symptoms is a shimmering light that becomes present in the peripheral vision of the sufferer. This can result in a distortion in your vision, and the distortion can also resemble pulsating or flashing lights that also are located in your peripheral vision. Ocular migraines are not particularly associated with the kinds of that can cause further disabilities, so they are treated in a different manner.

The disturbances are not strictly limited to one type of shimmering light. Sufferers of ocular migraines symptoms will find that both eyes are equally affected by these visual effects and lights. People suffering from ocular migraines can have up to three different types of visual disturbances. Each type is triggered by different stimuli.

The first variation of these ocular migraines symptoms is when the sufferer will notice a central, irregular, blank polygon in their field of vision. This blank space marks the onset of the condition, and can be accompanied by extreme stress and tiredness. These accompanying ocular migraines symptoms are similar to those experienced by sufferers of other types of migraine headaches, although without the typical nausea.

The second of the ocular migraines symptoms variations involves experiences a problem with your visual processing, regardless of whether one or both eyes are being utilized. However, the boundaries of this polygon seem to be made of colors which pulsate and flow around the shape in irregular bands. It is known to be trigger though anything from spreadsheets to patters in wallpaper to domestic types of wallpaper. Even different forms of relaxation and meditation can cause these distortions on your vision. This form comes into view suddenly and produces a peculiar and distorted space in your field of vision.
